  • power steering hoses

Ok so my power steering has always been leaking. And I'm finally getting fed up enough of it to actually start doing something about it. I'm wondering if anybody knows what size hose it is for the low pressure return hoses?
And are regular worm type hose clamps sufficient enough?

i believe it's 3/8 hose, but in metric size it would be 9.5mm.

worm clamps are fine, but the hose is more important. it shouldn't be regular coolant hose. it should be oil or exhaust/egr hose. power steering fluid and ATF will swell the coolant hose and can burst even without any pressure once it gets too saturated with oil.

if you use coolant hose, worm clamps are bad news. if you use oil hose- worm clamps that are not overtightened will be just fine.

The hoses are naturally metric, there's no exact fit, but 10mm and 15mm if I recall

go to a hydraulic store and get hose that is compatible with oil, or get oil cooler hose.

You can buy the hoses from Nissan if you don't want it to look ghetto rigged.

will work perfectly. the fluid inside the power steering rack is automatic trans fluid, so its suitable.

Is it alright to just go ahead and use regular PS fluid ?

Are those hoses normal straight thrue and no reducers in anywhere?

                          http://www.courtesyparts.com/300zx-p...2426_2432.html

2 hoses can be changed pretty easy, but is that 3rd hose possible to change? The one that is pressed to hardline.

                          edit: Dexron IIIH
