  • 30A rebuild

The 88 turbo 30A I put in the 86 turbo has been making noise since the day I got it. The trans shifts smooth but is noisy. There was metal particles while draining the old gear oil. My Trans re-builder friend says it most likely an input shaft bearing. He offered to R&R it, and rebuild it for $500 plus parts. I found a rebuild Kit on eBay for $124.25.

I ordered a FS5R30A rebuild kit from drivetrain.com a few years back. It was 400 bucks and didn't come with all the bearings. My tranny made some god awful noises from bad bearings. I'd verify that those kits have everything before buying.

How much did you end up paying the shop?

                        Thats a pretty good price.

Is the diff mount a nice add?

yeah, it tightened up the rear suspension. I've only driven it a few miles from the shop to home because of the weather. If it drys up a little, I'll take it out for a cruise
