  • removing the oil pan.

yes I made that mistake that everyone does. So what is the procedure for removing the oil pan? Are there alternative methods?

I was thinking possibly dropping the oil pan where it is right now and bending the dipstick out, snipping it and pull the remainder out.

Wait what is the mistake that everyone makes? does it have to do with the dipstick? Maybe i'm a dipstick cause I dont know what you are talking about. Or maybe everyone who has made the mistake is a dipstick LOL

It does not break it, gets hung up and stuck on the part that keeps it from touching the crankshaft.

OHHHH that mistake! Yeah I've never made that one either. I usually build the engine on the stand then put the oil and the dipstick in the engine at the same time after the engine is in the car.

As far as to answer the question tho, I would think the easiest way to do it would be to un bolt the motor mounts, Jack the engine as high as you can(dont know how if its the oil pan you gotta pull, maybe by the tranny? ) then that would give you the most room to work with. Or use a cherry picker. Or just pull the cross member or the engine.

He should jack up the motor under the oil pan right?

Right, and then undo all the bolts,

                          Lick everyone of them,

Then undo the jack handle as fast as he can,

and run around his car 10 times.

The dipstick will FLY right out

So if you bolt the oilpan on with the dipstick in and start the car what happens? the dipstick hits the crank and gets chewed up?

The reason I ask is the guy I bought my car from said the oil stick got chewed up and the remains are in the pan somewhere.
