  • regarding turbo oil pans

    aight so im in the middle of a NA2T conversion
    heres the case and question;

    85T donor, non W-series oil pan being bolted onto a 88 W-series engine.... now what to do about gaskets?

    i was planning to stick with the W style as it will be on a W block :?

    thoughts? suggestions? arguments? flame?

      It could never hurt to use the gasket, whether it is on a non-W or W series motor. IMO, it is better to use the gasket than to just apply a generous coating of RTV at the seam.

        I havent seen the actual differences in oilpans but I would imagine the design differs in the pan not the block. I would think the non W pan is designed for a gasket and the W series is designed for RTV.

        Just me though.

              scratch that took the lazy way at first and didnt check the underside of the pans, no continuing dimples

              no difference between pre and W series
