  • Get wracheting line wrenches (alternator, clutch maste

Before these handy little wracheting wrenches came out, loosening and tightening the alternator/waterpump belt was a snobby btch. Do yourself a favor and at least pick up a 12mm. It makes life so much easier.

While you're at it, pick up a set of line wrenches. They're $9.00 for a full set at the auto parts store. These will help with those god forsaken bolts on your clutch master cylinder, clutch slave, brake master, etc, etc. I spent 20 minutes with a traditional wrench to no avail (rounded the bolts a bit), I got the line wrenches and WHAM....done in 5 seconds.

    yup.

proper tools make everything so much easier.

i remember i has trying to change a headgasket on my saab turbo, i could not for the life of me get to a bolt. i went to sears and spent $20 on a wrench to remove one bolt. but i had it out in about 3 minutes after i bought it.

I also cannot say enough about the ratchet wrenches. I bought a set of 10mm - 18mm from gearwrench. They have a lifetime warrenty and you can get them from Napa. Not cheap though!!!

Just my 2cents on the awsome tools.
        +1 from a proud owner

i got them as a gift actually, a box set of standard and metric (8mm - 18mm)

gearwrench = life savers in tight spots

and they havent dimpled up like most other chrome alloy wrenches!

          Damn right!

Got the same set for a Christmas gift as well and they are always in the Z. Handiest damned wrenches I have ever owned.

And they grip on the flats where a wrench should and not the corners.

          Awesome...

Damn... this all reminds me I've got to tighten my alt belt. It's being a whiny little beeyotch in this cold weather right now.

I agree, both of those are a must have. I have a full set of gear wrenches and line wrenches. They are a great investment and a massive timesaver. I think I can swap the alternator using entirely the 12mm...
