Hay guys...
I think I found a boost leak in my IC setup. A little backgorund, I got the hks fmic setup. When the car is cold, it holds boost fine. Once warm, the car still boosts, but not as much & the turbo spool sounds strange. A "hissing" noise, so Im thinking I got a boost leak on my hands.
Im gonna investigate other things & re-tighten clamps but while I have it off, might as well get some clamps more conducive to higher boost levels. Since Im assuming the HKS was designed for stock use.
Theres two points where I think it is failing. Right when it exits the turbo, the turbo has a big "lip" on it. I have the clamp tight on the "lip" but I swear when it gets warm, it leaks. Plus that lip causes the IC coupler to line up funny (cuz I think the thinckness of the lip causes it to be bigger than 2").
Also under the car, at the point where my IC pipe curves into the actual tank itself, its misaligned (due to non-stock fitment), so that piece is suspect too.
Everywhere else on the car, the pipes are aligned and fit nicely. Theres guys running 20+psi through this same hks setup, so the pipes can flow it (dont know bout stock turbo tho). Those two areas either need better couplers and/or stronger "boost-proof" clamps (right now im using standard clamps). What do ya'll use/recommend???
