  • 255lph Walbro pump, need AFPR?

Subject title says it all, do I need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator when upgrading to the 255lph walbro fuel pump to regulate the fuel pressure or will the stock regulator keep it at the correct base pressure?

stock should work. but afpr are nice any ways.

It is not recommended to confirm proper installation by driving into walls or other barriers as this could cause personal injury or damage to the vehicle.

Well I need to know if it will still run the correct base pressure even with a high pressure fuel pump...

It'll run the same pressure no problem. You dont need an afpr.

Of course you don't need one. Who's feeding you that garbage?

              hahaha

it helps to understand how the fpr actually works, I would bet most people do not.... it's not something that exists in a carb application so some people will have a mental block accepting that it's just a return line restrictor

simply it lets most fuel flow through it at idle and the least at wot.... the rail is pressurized by the pump, the fpr bleeds off excess fuel to reduce the pressure to the required amount, which is ~37psi for us

the only time you'd need to upgrade is if you were overwhelming it at idle, which is close to impossible unless you have upgraded the fuel supply hose and hardlines to say 3/8" and run a monster pump or two, but even then it would only affect low rpm/throttle only

and the only other reason to upgrade would be to an adjustable unit that could raise or lower pressure as needed in the tuning process
