For most cars the install is limited by the needs of the customer.

I am a sound quality person, and some older equipment was the best ever made. The system in my Firehawk consists of a Sony Mobile ES, a/d/s pq10.2, a/d/s 530i, rockford 1000.2, boston pro 12's. Other than the subs and sub amp, all the equipment is older than the car itself. I used to have kicker solobaric 12's and a phoenix gold 2125 amp. Subs wore out, but I still have the amp.

I have modified the sony to control a sirius tuner and an ipod. I love custom stuff.

Now we're talking. I don't like the RF piece, but that's ok. I've got the Pioneer DVD in one Z that is for navigation but it sounds half way decent. (not great)
Then in the truck I have a C910, and a C710 in the other Z. The 710 is a place holder till the P1 display gets fixed. Damn DC-DC convertor.

The Sirius and ipod control, is that from rush2112?

Yes, I was a beta tester for rush2112.

The rf amp I have was from a year when they were really good. Mine sounds great and has not had any problems.

I also have a p1 system in my roadster. a/d/s pq20, focal speakers, jl 500.1 and a jl 10". It is all hidden in the area behind the seats, but I am going to move it to a nice display setup in the trunk.

The old A/D/S stuff was really good too. Now that they have changed hands a few times and landed in DEI's stable, they are a recovering brand. BUT, a source at DEI says they are starting to make some really good improvements in the line. Someone I know to have a really good ear and trust their opinion.

So many companies change hands all the time, or just make crap one year. I am glad I have reliable contacts. I remember when nakamichi made some of the best speakers and amps, then were sold and they made junk. We called them sparkamichi from then on.

Here's how I did mine. Subs are Boston Acustic G1 10". These subs have a compact magnet but hit hard as hell.

That looks good, I saw this setup in a Z31 for sale over here. The car is completely riced out but the sub compartment looks decent!

That has a lot of time and effort put into it. Regardless if I would do it or not, I respect it for what it is and say it's a job well done.

Firehawk, I noticed that you have one of the punch 1000.2 amps. That was back before they went crappy and you could find them in best buy when they went to the 1000a2. I have one of the older punch 225.2 I love that amp! Its very small punch man does it pack a punch, no pun intended!

Also, for those saying that you should face the subs this way or that way or whatever because your audio friend says so, Then your audio friend should also know that each car has different accoustics, so a sub facing one way in one car sounding good might not sound as good in a different car. Even if the cars are similar shapes, that doesnt mean they will perform the same.

Until you get down to the nitty gritty with testing equipment to find out what is REALLY the best accousticly, then you are just guessing as to what really is the best.

My friend friend had an s10 extended cab with one twelve that hit a 132db with the sub facing up. He was told to face the sub down and try again. We flipped it up side down and put some crap under it so the sound had room to get out and his db jump 3 up to 135db but actually sounded quieter  Its all in where the waves are hitting (the accoustics) where they sound best or loudest. They measure the sound db down by the windshield so that just so happens to be where the sound was louder when we faced the box down. Why? I have no clue because I never tested the car with any equipment, nor have I ever tested any car or even know what the equipment looks like, LOL. I am a car stereo amature who just does what sounds good much like most of you.

That's true, better to one person mightn't be better to another... My dual subs sounded better to me facing rearward than it did facing frontward, and likewise with two other guys I know with Z31's and a similar setup.

                        Whatever floats your boat!
