  • fiberglass cowl style hood

Just testing the waters out on this idea. I made a cowl induction style hood for my z for the pathy intake. Im thinking off making an entire new hood out of fiberglass using mine as the mold. I know these can be bought for the 84-86 cars but I havent seen them for the 87-89's. Im just toying with the idea at this point so I dont want any obligations yet. Would anyone be interested in this though?

not sure what you mean, is that where it has a dip/vent in the front?

I think cowl hoods look better on the zenki Z31s because of the more angular front of those cars. On the later Z31s, they kind of clash. Could be rounded off though.

I originally tried a more rounder style as far as the front goes but I thought it looked shitty.

I like the idea there. Different but not obscene.
Just stand back and throw money.
                Performance costs money.
                Reliable performance costs more.

well if people are interested in it ill try and do it. i guess it just depends on the cost involved with the materials and all. once i make my own i wil figure it out from there.

Do you plan on some kind of framing for the underside?

Ive seen where some people have used spray on foam and trimmed it down to shape for the framing and then glassed it in. I think something like that could work pretty well. My main concern would be being able to retain the hinges and hood support struts.
