Can somebody explain what the hell the point of of having bright low-beams? Seams kinda redundant to me. If you seriously never use your high beams then you must do a lot of interstate or inner-city driving, where your headlights aren't that important anyway. I just don't get it. Then again i live in a state where i could feasibly drive for hours without having to dim my lights. Being stuck without brights in the sandhills would blow big balls, i'd have a deer for a hood ornament in under a week and i'd be too scared to drive over 60. If you serioulsy never use your brights, then wtf do you need HIDs for? You might as well just admit this is a ricer little fetish that looks cool. I admit, I like the appearance, no arguement, but I refuse to think of them as anything but rice if you have no high-beam function.

I drive with my lights down 90% of the time. So I agree that it's the ricer/look of it that attracts me. I bought blue bulbs from ebay just because I think those look cool. But then again, when I do run my lights up I wouldn't mind having brighter lights. Of course if I could get it all I would want both high/low capabilities.

I've been considering them, if it's worth anything. When I do get them I will be getting the Hella Bi-xenon 9cm projector type so I can keep high-beam functionality.

THIS is what must be done if you want it done right. This looks like a PITA, no doubt, but it would be well worth it, and shouldn't break the bank too terribly bad.My beloved Z:1987 2+2 NA2T w/30a swap.

No offense to anyone but those blue bulbs that all the ricers run are worthless. More then 50% of the Honda kids here run those bulbs. I don't care about how cool hid looks, I just want more light performance as I often drive on middle of nowhere roads and running the offroad lights just isn't cool.
The stock Headlights on my Pathfinder are pathetic and I'd definitely be interested in a kit for my 240Z and pathy.
This is the cheapest hi-lo kit I've been able to find...http://www.slickcar.com/productd ... uctID=5072 The price seems right.Ucked Fup!!!

Side note: One guy on that thread brought up the idea of Xeon fog lights....he has read my mind. (not that there is much to read)
Like some here I often drive at night in areas with ZERO lighting. Any additional illumination is well received. Here is my thought:
Although I have some decent Silverstar main lamps and some nice add-on driving lamps to help out I would still like to really light things up when I am on the open road.
I have been kicking around the idea of adding some Xeon bulbs to my stock fog lights. Now I know that this wont apply to all Z31s, but for many it will. The stock fog lamp has a "removable" lamp. It isn't completely cast in with glass like the main head lamp. You will know what I mean if you have ever taken them out.
My idea is that I will wire the stock fog lights to come on with the high beams. = Major road illumination when needed. My low beam is pretty good with the Silverstar lamps and added low mounted driving lights so I don't really need any help there.
I have a set of HID bulbs in the fog lamps now and they are much better than stock. (45 or 50W) However, I think for the older Z31s this may an avenue to consider that doesn't require major alteration to the primary headlight.
I'm going to play around with it some more but I wanted to throw the idea out there since the basic topic came up here.Just stand back and throw money.
Performance costs money.
Reliable performance costs more.
