  • comment on centerforce duel friction clutch?

    http://centerforce.com/clutches.tpl?car ... utchtypes#

you can read a discription here. seems like it might be a decent clutch for most modified z cars, past act street disk holding power. i might give it a try as i`m sick of the act un-sprung 6 puck. anybody have exp with this clutch?

I bought one for my old turbo dodge, but diden't have a chance to install it before the motor blew, but it looked to be a quality piece. Everyone I've ever talked to that has used one loves them if that helps any.

this was the very first clutch I ever purchased. I toasted my old one from turning up the boost(had a lot of miles on it too) The Centerforce held GREAT............................. for about a week

        ^now that is just funny.

Satan, you should be the Z31 "blow it up specialist"

You must be even harder headed that I am and just as much as a glutton for punishment as anyone in this community. I love it.

Centerforce, ACT....I keep saying this but non one listens apparently. Jason had a high hp clutch idea a while back but there is also the Exedy stage 2 and 3. I have a stage 2...love it. Feels good on the foot, not too stiff, easy to control and feather when needed and it will hold more than I will ever throw at it with an NA since is designed for much higher torque applications.

My only point here is this...search out the options. In my case I liked the Exedy for specs and price. Don't just do it because other people say so...get some NUTS and buy what you feel is the best solution for what you want to accomplish. This goes for any part or overall idea..."conventional wisdom" only goes so far. Why do you think the early NA to T guys did what they did? Because everyone said it would work splendidly...no...the did it because they found a way and saw the way in their own minds. Now, here we are today with every swinging dick who owns an NA Z31 wanting to do a turbo upgrade.

Conformists only help solidify the status quo.

Yeah, that was a very long time ago. I was 20 and still learning. I didnt even do my own clutch because I was scared I would screw somthing up. But then when I eventually took it apart couple years later, I saw that the guy I paid to do it didnt even put all of the bolts back in the pressure plate!

But on centerforces behalf, it wasnt their fault my clutch slipped. I paid the guy 250 to do my clutch, TO bearing, rear main seal, and to resurface the flywheel.

He never replaced the TOB, Lost some of the pressure plate bolts and never did the rear main. As a result my brand new clutch was soaked in oil after about a week and didnt hold power for shit. I drove it around like that for a long time with a bitter taste in my mouth towards centerforce just cause I didnt have another car so... Centerforce is prolly allright

i have a dual friction clutch in my car right now that has been in there for over 3 years. it didn't start to slip until i did some tuning on the dyno where it started to slip out around 362hp. i have an act clutch waiting to go in but for most people making around 300hp i would say it would work fine.

            boost. does a body good!

damn, that duel friction was starting to sound good, but they didn`t give you a torque holding number just "90% holding over stock"

I would say dynoing at 362 is around 90% over stock. actually slightly more. So its not really false advertising.
