3.7 is an option to keep stock gearing. Cheap, easily available all over the place from mustangs, proven strong, same wheel bolt pattern, 180 LSD options to pick from, disc brake options available, etc etc.

People run 9's and 1.4 60' on the 8.8's without issue, and being way cheaper than the 9'... it's what I would do if I were building a drag car.
I like the sound of that! Do you know what year, engine etc. Mustangs that had the 8.8' axle?

If Nissan motorsports is Nismo, wouldn't Honda Motorsports be Homo?

DOH! I forget we have international members. Terranos (pathfinder) and Patrols (non-usdm) should have that tranny on gas engines. Also we didn't get the diesel options here so I don't know for sure what tranny is behind them out in the world.

Most Mustangs except SOME 4cyl 2.3's, Explorers, 1/2 ton fullsize trucks and some Expeditions. I think they started making it in 86? Google searching will show you just how easy parts are to find. Someone told me they are about 60" side to side, which means it would fit fairly well.

I really don't even know how many they made over there, and access to parts may be much different than it is here.

The pathfinder rear that Steve suggested is also a good option IMO, but trying finding a ratio anywhere close to 3.70 may kill you.
