  • LSD flange nut

I notice that the nut on the LSD driveshaft flange is loose, and also it's mighty big. It's bigger than my biggest socket, 24mm. What size is it?

I might as well change that seal while I'm playing with it. Thanks peoples.

sounds like you are talking about the pinion flange nut on the front of the differential. thats either a 27 or 30mm nut. that HAS to be tight. if it loosens up and backs off then your pinion will slide back in the diff housing and chew everything apart. i had this happen to me once and it sucked.. get that thing torqued and stake it in place.

I believe it is 26mm, but that's from memory.

Do not drive the car until that is tight. You have to keep the pinion depth and bearing preload in spec or severe wear can happen very quickly (be sure not to over-torque it either)... and that nut is not supposed to loosen on its own.

It's a LSD I bought from a forum member, I hope it is okay. I will look up the spec and torque it.

I think I remember that they are a goofy size
            Try 25.5MM or 1 1/16"

                mine's definitely bigger than 26mm. I'll pick up a 27 from a friend's house later, thanks.
