  • Clutch replacement on 1988 300zx non turbo

Hi everyone im new to the Z family and I own 1988 300zx non turbo. I didnt even have it for a day and I accident downshifted from 5th to 2nd instead of 4th and just let go of the clutch and let the whole car grind all the way to the side of the road. Car cant shift into first gear and it stays on neutral and the car shakes like crazy. I need step by step instructions how to replace clutch please if anyone is kind enough.

Sound more like you blew the transmission to me.

Hope he didn't fling his valves too fast for the springs.... but yea, sounds like the synchro rings are probably smeared across the gears

I've done that, probably hit 8,500. Twice. Hopefully you are as lucky as I and didn't hurt a thing with the engine (or transmission in my case). With the grinding noise it made it sounds like the tranny blew.

Thanks for the reply guys. I just took out my transmission, it seems to be ok . Ordered a clutch kit from autozone so I'm having the replaced today. I hope all works out. Thanks guys
