  • quick and dumb question

how do I set continuity on the TPS? Which two wires?

yeah, I'm thick headed on electronic stuff. Something that's throwing me off is the wiring. Car was auto so it has 2 plugs for throttle. I swapped to a turbo plenum (among other things) so one dangles unused.

Bought an adjustable timing light yesterday so I can get this taken care of soon.

I wrap my paper weights in glitter.

Pretty sure it is the Top two holes, set to Ohms, move the TPS around until you hit the very lowest or no reading.

The TPS is an on/off switch.

Off is anything above idle, on is idle. When you rev it up, the multimeter shouldn't read anything, but back on idle you should have some resistance through the 2 pins.

It doesn't really do that much, but it does help your gas mileage.

I have a TPS sitting here that would hold true to what you say.

But the one on my car never shows an open :? . Maybe that is why my car doesn't idle

Then there is also a slider on this one. Confuses meh[/img]

I think that's a potentiometer. The 240SXs had them, and I think the Z31 autos had some kind of seperate TPS for the auto trans, but I'm not sure.

            hmm, would be kinda weird.

So it would actually be set to open (OFL) anything over idle

plug in hand is unused since it's no longer auto.

so I need to take the cover off and move the switch by hand so the computer thinks the throttle is closed? I still feel confused...

That is what that random plug is that hangs in my engine bay
