  • MAF filament cleaning cycle?

Since 280Zs had no speed sensor, I had to wire up my MAF cleaning wire through a push button switch.

My question is how long should I hold the power button down for and how often do I need to clean it?

I tried 8 seconds today and it seemed to run a little bit nicer after that.

not all the cars with a hotwire afm even use a cleaning cycle, and someone suggested the 88+ ecus don't do it either but ....

88+ has the wire and has it stated somewhere in the manual. I think it has the time and conditions for the clean function in the manual too but im too lazy to find it.

5 seconds after the engine is stopped the self-cleaning operates for 1 second per the 86 FSM.

Do not allow it to glow for 8 seconds! Well, I can sell you one if you do.

It's runs better than ever after doing that, but I won't do it again.
