    the ecu supplies the current afaik, so you would need a dropping resistor between it and the afm, and I'm not suggesting 9 volts but maybe like 11

    But I don't know if the afm gets exactly 12v or it varies like the rest of the car systems up to 14v... if it varies then you'd need to go lower like 10 or 9 to affect it, and you'd need a seperate regulated power supply to keep it there

    I can't see lowering the voltage harming the afm in any way

    if someone were willing to try and log a/f changes, thats probably the only way we' know for sure

      Um... see what I think Steve is saying is that if the ECU has a 12 volt voltage regulator it is going to attempt to supply the same 12 volts no matter the resistance, so you will drive more current and fry it.
      For DC circuits V=IR

      I would have to say it's a bad idea either way. It's not that hard to build a new VQmap if you are set up to log the maf voltage anyway. Why make it harder than it already is?
