  • Turbo Elbow studs/nuts/bolts ?

    Doing the turbo conversion...
Im gonna have to buy ALL new studs, bolts, and nuts for the turbo to exhaust elbow.

I went to Nissan dealership and they said they DO NOT make them anymore... oh well I didnt want those brittle things anyway.

But now I have a problem.
Where do I get these pieces? (better than OEM hopefully)
I know im picking up the TSS Exhaust manifold bolt set...

But How about the turbo to elbow?

    thanks!

Awesome, can I use bolts in place of all the studs, nut and bolts from the stock elbow?

Like in other words can i extract ALL of the studs, and order 7 of these bolts you listed in the size you listed above and use them instead of studs/nuts/bols again?

            make sense?
7 is the correct number correct?

Exactly what I did to replace two of the broken bolts. You can order them online.

For the record the stock hardware is fine. Any material fatigues after 10,000 heat cycles....

Ok I just called over TWENTY (20!!) machine shops from yellowpages.com in the area of dallas, and NOT ONE could extract my studs, 80% of them said they have no idea what im talking about and they dont do that kind of work and 20% said they just cant do it.

One of them actually said they could for $100 PER FREAKING STUD.

By the way theres 5 studs on the elbow, 2 of them came out thanks god but the other 5....

2 are in perfect shape, and 3 are broken off in the turbine housing, BUT they ARE still sticking out about 1/4th of an inch. (all 3 are still sticking out)

                  What should I do?
Right now its sitting on my patio with pb blaster all over it lol.
                  thanks

DO NOT use the an easy out, they only allow you to apply a small amount of torque to the broken fastener. they usually cause more problems than they fix. If you have a welder you can take care of this easily, get a nut that just fits over the fastener and weld the nut on. once it cools it will back right out with a wrench. if you don't have a welder you need to take it to a shop that does.

i used an easy out with great success when i replaced my head gaskets, on thing i did tho was leave what was left of the broken studs soaking with p.b blaster for a couple of days , and i drilled big wholes so i could use the biggest possible bit . if you just use the smallest of the bits, you run a big chance that you will break the easy out inside the broken stud, and that will suck to drill out)....

I've used easy outs for years without issue.
