  • Bwahaha, answer found!

I'm pretty sure that this was the problem ;D Yay, my first piston ;D

Oh, and we have found traces of sand in the oil passages.

vg33et -blew some chunks outta it, then gave it all away.

the motor was previously in a sand rail?
It may not be a Z, but it's still got a turbo...

I'm suspecting that Majestic sent me a turbo with bead blast material inside it, since the first build lasted ~20 minutes, and the 250$ rebuild that I got back after that had blast material in/on it.

God dam, how retarded do they have to be to leave bead material in there. Steps in blasting:

              1: Hot Tank
2: Blast dry with compressed air
              3:Sand Blast
4: Blast clean with compressed air

You know when there is no more sand because your arms stop hurting from the sand hitting you. :P

Terrible idea putting those wheels on...

The right way to do it is to plug the oil feed and return ports so sand has no chance of getting in to begin with.

Any idea as to what happened to the piston? Detonation?

Nope, no real idea.. if it was detonation, I wasn't able to hear/feel it.

That more than sucks. After all the crap you went through with the turbo and now you may have f-d up an engine because of their ignorance and lack of professionalism.

                      AAARRRGGG :!:

grahfz- are those water beads on the piston or detonation marks? They look like water beads in the pic to me.
Just stand back and throw money.

I'd be going back there myself and giving them a good serving, a free engine comes to mind.

It's all water. ALL of the pistons look perfect, absolutely NO detonation marks or anything of the sort. It's really kinda odd that there's no marks anywhere.. but I've got a busted piston.
