  • 90mm PISTONS ??

    I have 2 sets of 90mm pistons 1 esscort's and one tomei's
I'm going to overbore my block
The block need new block sleeves to put these pistons?
Or the block can handle this bore out 87mm to 90mm cut without new sleeves?

    Iron block = No sleeves?

Terrible idea putting those wheels on...

There is a lot of discussion about going 1 or 2 mm over. 3 I have never seen done. Personally I'm using a 1mm set with no problems. I would say tear the block down and have a competent machinist look at it.

            VG30 bored to 91.5 = VG33.
The VG33 uses the same VG30 block but bored to 91.5mm so your 91mm will fit fine. Especially since the VG33 has been bored to 3.4 liters.

This seems to be the consensus I'm getting on the subject. I do not have a 33 to compare. It would be easy to identify how close they are in a very short time.

Your pistons will do fine. Contrary to what most people think the vg30 block can be bored to be a vg33 (vg34 is questionable) and my machinist confirmed this when i bored my meesly 2mm over. He asked me why i didn't go bigger, and i replied because i didn't want to risk it.

BTW if it matters this was a w-series block. It might (but probably doesn't)seeing how the all vg33s are w-series.

These are used pistons that you have bought correct? Take them to a machinist and have them look them over to make sure they are all usable. Unless they are new and in that case they will check each one individually when they do the block work.

a little off topic, but where did you get the tomei pistons, those are very expensive and hard to find! also the escort pistons are very expensive, why do you have both sets?

Your machinist should be looking at every piston even if they are brand new. If he isnt, I'd find a new one.
