    I think that shroud is there because they couldn't move the mechanical fan infront of the radiator.

    Terrible idea putting those wheels on...

      A shroud has 2 functions 1. To keep you from loosing a hand and 2. To direct air to a specific area. If you notice even a front wheel drive car with an electric fan has a shroud to direct air to the side of the engine. The Z31 with the radiator angled so drastically depends on the shroud to direct air straight back even though the radiator is angled. Just my opinion!

        That sounds like how my car behaved like when I had a leaky headgasket.. and after a few minutes of hard driving the car would overheat, no matter how much cold air the radiator got..

        not saying yours are bad though, but start the engine(from Cold) and look for bubbles under the radiator cap while the engine is heating up..
