  • ...So I got bored this weekend (86 hardtop)

NA power is an oxymoron, so I put some things on that I had laying around, and made a few new pieces. It is very similar to satan's setup.

I didn't want to swap X-members, so I made this little kit. 2.5 inch to feed the turbo, and a 3 inch downpipe. I Put the (stupid expensive) wastegate where I coud see it. Getting a SSQV this weekend in place of the type-R BOV. Welded the -10 AN return line on the front of the oil pan, and no oil evactuation issues as of yet (have been driving the car for two days).

Picked the slicktop up last weekend for $1000, and so far the mods are:
6 puck clutch, B&M shifter, 3 inch exhaust, 3 inch charge piping, Holset HX35, huge intercooler, DSM 450cc injectors, turbo relocation kit, greddy type-R EWG, greddy e-manage, 86T ECU, E36 M3 throttle body, e-fan, Custom intake manifold, solid mounts everywhere, and a couple weight mods.

still needs a lot of work, and a little cleaning up.

86 hardtop shell, 93 SC300 engine, 95 soarer bellhousing, 91 supra transmission, 95 Q45 differential hubs and driver's side axle, 1992 300ZX turbo driver side axle and calipers, 2004 350Z Rotors, 87 300ZX front end/hood, 1999 Viper radiator, 1992 Mustang throttle body. Lots of glue and tape to keep it all together.

    Thats very cool work
Did you make that intake for it ? looks really good.and how easy is it to use the Greddy E-manage ?

E-manage is kind of a bitchon a z31, because if the MAF voltage drops below a certain level, the car runs like crap. I still can't get it to run well at idle.

I want a bigger turbo, bigger injectors, and I really want to try out nistune. If I could get a beta version, I could put it to good use, and hopefully make some OK dyno numbers.

This new intake manifold is a little better design, but took a bit more time than the last one. I'm using a stock M3 throttle body which is a bit nicer than the KA TB I was using on the tapering triangular manifold.

You people and your damn relocated turbo setups. Your all a bunch of hippies!

Whats up with that throttle cable? if you route it over the back of the valve cover it would give you more of a strait shot. I can see that its not a big deal on the TB itself but where you have it leaving the plenum looks like it could use a little attention.

                Cool stuff man.

I have to use a BMW TPS, but not for the stock ECU, I only use it for the e-manage.

Satan- I still have a bit of cleaning up to do to it obviously... it still looks like shit. I'm thinking about having all the exhaust manifolds and relocation kit high temp coated through my work (it's pretty cheap for me)

Looks awesome. So did you make the turbo re-location parts?

Would you want your pics added to the turbo faq?

kick ass work there, especially in the time spent. Any heat issues with the turbo relocated (engine overheating, hood melting, etc)?

                              intake manifold question...

How did you secure the manifold? Is it just welded to the lower intake manifold? Or did you just??? I can't see how you could get little bolts in it to hold it down, unless the underside of the manifold is more complex than I'm thinking. :?
