  • Supra MK III Intercooler

Found 2 (what are the odds) Toyota Supra '88 (7mgte) at the JY. They told me they would sell me the intercooler
for $30. Is it worth it? Anyone have pics of it installed in a Z31.
One of the supra's turbo was consuming oil, and I'm afraid oil is all inside the intercooler. Other wise most of its fins
    are straight.
The other intercooler is fine except there is latex paint spraid on the fins of the intercooler.
Let me know what you guys think.

    Edit:
Oh yeah, the dimensions are 470x305x76. Dont know the inlet size.

I just have to ask. Why parallel? Wouldn't that result in a piping nightmare? Just seems odd for some reason. :?
Just stand back and throw money.
      Performance costs money.
      Reliable performance costs more.

Cool, thats what I wanted to know. Thanks. ...err ok I have another question.
Does it suck but still better than no IC at all? Or does it suck just compared to other stock IC's?

Just in case, are there ANY stock intercoolers out there that are more than worth pulling for the price?
I'm probably going to end up buying one of those ebay intercoolers, or buy a core and build my own. But this
wont be for many years to come I suspect. So if there are any good stock intercoolers that are worth it or atleast better
than the MKIII, post it so I can keep an eye out for it. I might run it temporarily or just sell it on ebay.

I need an intercooler, and I wish I knew where to go about finding one of these mystical NPR intercoolers!

Seriously though, it's so hard for me to find an IC, I look on ebay and all I see is this knockoff junk everywhere. Don't even know how to begin choosing one.

I bought my IC off of ebay, one of the 12x24x3 IC's that are all over it and go for real cheap. When it's mounted it looks like the car was made for this IC to be there. The pipeing was simple, did it all with a universal ebay IC pipe kit a pipe cutter, got a couple reducers off of atpturbo.com and I had a complete IC kit for right around $300.

As for stock intercoolers there are only 3 that are worth wasting your time with:

                        1. MKIV supra
                        2. Porsche 944
                        3. Isuzu NPR

Other than that, basically most stock intercoolers suck balls. Ebay intercoolers are so cheap now its ridiculous, just go that route. Or get a stock MKIV for $50-60. I made 398RWHP on that intercooler and have since gone to a big bar and plate ebay one.

                          Cool, thanks for the info.
Even though I wont ever see any of those 3 car in a JY around here, its still good to know.

That page give absolutely NO useful info. Size is the last concern when picking an IC.
