What good is that? That's just a regular filter, your point being?

i think hes trying to show us a cone filter that will do its job very well (filtering crap out) and fit the pipe diameter that jason is using without costing alot of money . it looks too long tho ....

I'm quite certain Jason possesses the ability to find his own filter lol

That Apollo thing would be perfect if it wasn't rated so little, damn! That's how to do it though, now only to get a setup that isn't so restrictive! Why they did that I dont know, would be great if it was rated higher though and would solve the problem perfectly!

heres mine. alittle crude and mine is an NA. but i put this together in a matter of hours. i cut out around the headlight and built this box to help sheild the air filter from the radiator.

its 3" stainless steel all the way to the throttle body. it definaltey helps compared to the stock system. the upper rpm is much better then stock.

84z31- I like the air box. I would think that should significantly reduce the ambient air temp that makes it into the intake.

It looks from the way you shaped it that it probably matches up the the headlight bucket pretty well I would think.
Just stand back and throw money.
              Performance costs money.
              Reliable performance costs more.

                thanks. i like it.

and the positioning keeps it out of the way of direct water splashes through the headlight. i removed the fog lights on my car. i didn't like them too much.

heres what they look like now.

I did a little more grinding, used a new section of pipe and mounted the MAF to try to isolate it from engine vibration. Pictures:

That looks good! Now you just need a shield for the other side closest to the fan, I found some real cheap if you're too lazy like me to make your own lol They look pretty nice...

wouldn't it have made more sense from a vibration/support standpoint at least to chop off the bracket from the crossmember and attach a new plate at an angle just above the frame rail?

the new motor mount bracket on the engine would have been much simpler to make too, just cut the old one and weld in a couple of side plates or even bolt it into the new position further out

I didn't want to modify the crossmember... IE I would like to be able to convert it back easily.

Now I wonder if someone can come up with a way to do it without removing the foglights because we never got that style headlight here lol

for what I'm suggesting you could start with a non-turbo one, there's plenty of those you can get for free I'm sure
