  • muffler!

    OK WELL, i went to my local exaust shop and they want an outrageous price of 950$ to finish half of my exaust with 3" mandrel bends!
    so my next option is somthing like this!

    do you guys think that this type of muffler will help to quiet it down!
    if you can find a better 3" round muffler please show me!

    for now a 3" downpipe and 3 feet or exaust is ok, but it needs to be more quiet! i can barely hear myself talking when im down the highway!

    A muffler like that will do nothing for sound dampening... That's basically a resonator and I dont even think they're legal to use in place of a normal muffler, at least in most places they arent.

    I dont think there's much you can really do to quieten down an exhaust that short lol

      Your best bet is a Certified Muffler cat back with a Magnaflow stainless steel muffler.Not too loud and sounds really nice when you step on the gas.

        I have a 3 foot long, 2.5 inch ID glasspack under my 86 2x2 and it did nothing to quite the engine down. it just filtered out most of the high pitched exhaust notes.

          I have one of those where the cat was. I think it does nothign but lower the exhaust pitch slightly.

            You need to find a different shop. $950 is just insane.
            Just stand back and throw money.
            Performance costs money.
            Reliable performance costs more.

              first off, running the exhaust fully to the rear of the car will do more for making it quiet than any other option you do. Ok, it doesnt make it quiet but it puts the sound behind you instead of under your feet which helps A LOT

                  Yeah 950 is insane 3" of the headers for my 89 f250 was half that and it is dual pipes

                    I will be selling 3" turbo back with madrel bend exhausts with muffler for $500 plus shipping, and this includes a test pipe to swap out either it or the cat.

                              I have a 3" 4x11x14" Magnaflow on an NA engine and it is pretty quiet also. One solution for mandrel bends, if you have a welder, is to buy a muffler-back 3" mandrel bent exh for aFord or Chevy pickup and cut and use the bends as needed. last time I did this it cost me about $75 for the piping and 80 bucks for a Magnaflow. It takes some fab work, but if you have the tools it is actually not too hard. Tack weld everything in place, then remove it and fully weld it up. hmm, at 950 you could almost buy a used mig-welder...
