  • Jack points...

Does anyone else seem to have week unibody rail things?

Mine fold over no matter what i do, and i have to hammer them back, it takes for ever.

Is there some kind of rail i could slip over and tack weld on?

Or is there a better alternative jacking point?

    Thanks ahead of time.

Terrible idea putting those wheels on...

I use the center of the crossmembers.
That is with a floor jack though.

Perhaps you could carve a channel into a block of wood to
    fit the frame rail?
    imagination is a virtue

Could try opening your FSM, there's a picture of all the "advised" jack points in there.

Personally I only lift on either of the crossmembers, or diff.

I concur.... I made the slitted block of wood adapters to jack the unibody pinch seam, but unless I only need 1 wheel off the ground - which is rare - I use the crossmembers

The piece of wood like these guys mention for the frame rails works great.

 I prefer to box the craptacticular oem rails with 1/8" plate....making them so strong that I can lift anywhere I want on the rails without issues. Strong?..... I can place a floor jack between the tires on the rail on one side of the car and lift the entire one side of the car with no problems.
*This does effectively firm up the chassis too!
            I am here to help...

I'm lucky to own 2 Z31's with un-crushed rails (for the most part). 90% of them I see have been comppletely crushed flat in at least one spot. I have a nasty habit of looking under cars quite frequently...

My employer sells a nice hydraulic jack that works in the stock jacking point so you don't have to dick around with wood.

Yeah, I've never seen one without crushed rails. Planning on wedling in plates over the whole frame.
