  • Front strut assembly (fluid)

I'm upgrading my front suspension with poly bushings and new set of bilstein struts what type of fluid could I use other than Nissan genuine fluid what's an equivalent.

    Any tips are welcome.

    Thanks

    another TSS tech tip?!
    *Use 10w30.
-It doesn't take much, it is just there to act as a meduim to transfer any heat generated within to the outer strut tube assembly.
This is only to be done when installing an aftermarket "insert" into the strut tube. The oem design is a valved cartridge which has a specific fluid recomendation different than what I am stating here.

What fluid specifically are you asking about?

                I use ATF.

I believe the purpose of strut fluid between the housing and cartridge is to allow heat transfer.

                  You mean ATF transmission fluid.

I can't see the reasoning why it would not be acceptable to use ATF(yes, automatic transmission fluid).
I asked this question to Tokico Tech. Support eons ago and it was explained to me as I explained it to you.
*I'd be willing to bet money that Bilstein would recomend/say the same.
