  • tach not working

Ok so the title makes it pretty easy to understand what my problem is. Questions is why? I took the gauges out and on the connector that I assume is for the tach had 3 wires. Black is ground green is constant 12v and yellow I assume is the signal wire but it has no reading at all. So either a can someone explain why or b can someone give me a way to to splice into where the signa comes from and run a wire to that yellow one so it has the signal?[*]

    Digital or analog?

Analog, sorry forgot to be specific.

So what I assumed about the connector for the tach is right. Black=ground, green=power and yellow=signal. After looking at the diagram in the haynes a wire labeled L comes from the coil and goes into a resistor then Y (yellow) wire goes from the resistor to the tach. I cant remember what color L is for the diagram, but more importantly where is the resistor that that wire runs to?

Where the resistor is is in the FSM, "Locations of Electrical Units"

sir420: thats the same diagram thats in the haynes lol

mikep, thanks for the location, now you know im gona need to take the one from the 88 before you leave with it tomorrow right.

So replaced the resistor with the one from the 88, still no tach. Check for signal there, and I have signal. Just isnt going throught the resistor. So does anyone want to mail me one that they know is good and working lol?
