  • 2000 rpm stumble

an 88t developed a stumble at 2k. Light throttle would make rpm bounce from 2000 down to about 1600 constantly. Hard throttle would go past this spot. Checked it, and the injectors were cutting out, spark was fine. MAF and CAS are good. Swapped with another 88t ecu, same problem. Installed an 87t ecu, and problem went away. This car has not had the injector recall done. Any ideas?

Sounds like a TPS to me...it would cause all of those things you are describing...it probably just has a bad spot in the sweep where your signal voltage is getting all scrambled which could definitely cause some weird injector firing / lack of firing. My Sentra is doing the exact same thing but for some reason only when the sensor gets heatsoaked...(probably extra resistance for my tps)

Did the newer Z's go away from the On/Off type TPS?

When you say you switched 88 for 88 and for 87. Are you talking about the ECU's?

Terrible idea putting those wheels on...

Yes, I switched ecu's. I correct my post to reflect that.
