    Alternator Replacement.

I just finished replacing the alternator in my '84z and decided to look at the brochure that came with the reman-one. It said that if I had the capacitor equipped on the old alternator that I need to remove it and place it on the new one. Is this correct? What happens if I don't place that part on the new alternator? If I have to place the part on the alternator where can I find new caps?

Its there for noise suppression. So you don't hear a whine from your alternator through your speakers.

You can run without it, but you may have a high pitched whine comming through the radio all the time.

Replacement parts are easy, Ebay alone turned up several for under $5, not to mention the parts houses and stereo stores.

Just mount it on there. I don't think I kept mine…and I have a amp and I have no whine. I now use the vg33 quest alternator.
