I love my Shadow louvers on the 85t. By far the best aftermarket set for the z31.
I'll have to dig up a better picture or the rear.... but so 80s.
I love them on zenki car's, not sure how I feel about Kouki's. Guess I have not really seen one I like them on. However, kouki would look awesome with a set of inner louvers. I would love to find a set some day.86na - BlueZ

I love it all. Make my sports car look like a house.
AE:
Headlights
Rear Hatch
Rear side windows
Rear license plate area (never seen another set of these).
84T:
Rear hatch (uninstalled, needs powdercoated)
Headlight (not installed yet)
(might fab some license plate ones in the future)
If i could score some oldschool 80's Kokamo louvered wiper blades, it would rock those too.
As far as the two styles of rear hatch louvers go, I prefer the rounded over sides of the ones in the first post,
not the ones with a flat strip of metal on the sides.

87 w/ the CORRECT louvers…
I have mixed feelings about it.... I suppose I like the idea about them, being retro and all.

I only dig the rear hatch shades on the zenki and chuki models.

87 3rd brake light + 87-89 louvers + quarter louvers + any 84-86 with a two tone + airdam + OG wheels = a pretty big win in my book. A little Dremel Customization to those flat side pieces to follow the louvers would complete the look.Feedback- viewtopic.php?f=18&t=19840

The original intent of the rear louvre was for security .. Keeping contents of the rear hatch covered. I don't believe the rear shelf shade was standard for all models and window tinting was not as popular as it is today. The rear louvers also did not significantly affect rear view visibility (unlike aggressive tinting)
Side louvers .. Offered additional security for the hatch area.
Headlamp louvers .. Offered headlamp protection (I got 'em because I was running Cibie Z-Beams (early lamps that allowed bulb replacements) .. and were an alternative to the plastic covers.
IMO ..
You can run .. The rear louvers by themselves and "look" OK
You can run .. Rear/side and Rear/headlamp (I'm biased) combinations and "look" OK'84Z31 GLL turbo|theZenthusiast site: http://www.thezenthusiast.com |
