Re: 350Z gauges with Z31 DNA project

This is a project I did back in 2007 when I had my then-new 2006 350Z GT. The after-market was just getting into the swing of offering twin-turbo upgrades for the Z33 and I decided "Hmmm - what would the center gauge pod look like if Nissan offered a 350Z Turbo?" I had sold my first AE to buy the 350Z so this is where my inspiration came from. First, I bought a used 350Z center gauge cluster off of eBay. Second, I bought a used 84-86 turbo Z31 analog center gauge cluster. Third, I finally bought a cheap aftermarket boost gauge and tore it apart for the mechanism. I gutted the OEM 350Z gauge cluster, meaning getting rid of the formerly occupied "VOLT" gauge and placed the boost gauge guts there. Then I had custom gauge overlays made for BOOST and used the "OIL" and "BOOST" lettering from the Z31 gauge cluster.

The result? I sent the modded cluster to a friend back in Miami who had twin turbo'd his 350Z and asked him to try it out. He sent these pics and a quickie cell phone shot movie clip of the cluster in action.

I found your thread on my350z about this shortly after buying my 350z but all the pictures were unavailable! I like it, nice work! Of course I sold the z33 to go oldskewl again. haha
