James, that is the same thing I was looking for when I posted that ebay link. The Pathfinders V6 hardbodys from 90-96 for sure used an R200A up front. I'm not certian they retained that diff for the 97- models or not.
It is offset and has a real long cv stub on one side. But with minor work parts interchange with our R200.

So... its illigal to weld the diff together.... how would they know this at the track? only by taking off the cover?

Or by driving the car in small circles and feel/hear it right away! Since both wheels are completely locked togheter, the inner wheel hops around like crazy...

That would not indicate a welded gearset vs an air locker or spool of some sort. Track workers don't know what is available for all differentials.

            weld it up man.

its not hard. get some 7018 rod and go to work. i ran my toyota truck that way for 5 years. my brother has had it for over a year now and it still hasn't broken. thats with 33" tires. i'm sure with the puny tires on these cars the axles and diff would hold up all right. less mass to turn.

i welded the side gears to the carrier and then i welded all the teeth that were touching together. i spent about 3 hours on it. just make sure you clean it really well. i used two cans of carb cleaner on the diff. i didn't even remove the carrier from the third member. i used a bunch of anti-spatter on the gears each time i started a new weld.

i have pictures on my other harddrive. someday i'll get all the crap off there.
