  • Swapping Cali ecu in to federal?

    Hi
    I read somewhere it may affect performance, but I was wondering if anyone has succeeded doing the swap without any issues?
    The reason I ask is because I'm in need of replacing mine and found two Cali versions in my stash.

    Will need matching Cali MAF and make sure injectors and o2 sensor match ECU.

        Just curious. What's different about Cali MAFs? I assume the ECU was programmed differently for emissions reasons, but why did they use a different MAF?

          The MAF's are the same. The only difference is the addition of an EGR sensor in the California ECU. You can swap a Federal ECU into a California car, but a California ECU in Federal car may give you an ECU code. You may also have to swap out 02 sensors depending on your model year and check fuel system configuration for fuel injector impedance (high or low).
