Does this shiny new adapter box mean I also have a new sending unit?

So, while gutting the interior, I found a surprisingly shiny fuel level sender adapter box thingy. It looks like it has a 1997 date code on it too.

The question is, is it for the old style sender or the new style? Googling the part number doesn't tell me much.

You'll have to pull the sender to find out. newer style uses a traditional armature and float, older style is a float that acts like a sliding potentiometer, its encased in an aluminum tube.

If you want to sell that box and sending unit, message me.

I'm afraid it's gonna be staying in the car as I'm going to be restoring this bad boy.

Did you actually determine if it's a sending unit or not, Hardwareguy?

Sending unit is in the tank.
Hardwareguy was asking if the silver box meant the updated analog sending unit had been installed.
