When you do that, only do it for a brief second to see if it is working. Running a pump in open air for too long will destroy it. NO water either!

alright, so I made a couple wire spades and put it on the pump. I threw it on the battery charger for one second and the pump came on! but my ohm's test is reading continuity on that wiring. What is going on... I don't get this stuff.

Screw the continuity test. You know the pump works. Now just make sure your pump will see 12 volts with the ignition on.

Okay, so I've narrowed it down to the ground sucking ass. What I did was put 12 volts closer down on the pump wiring, past the 'huge gauge' piece of wiring that runs to it. I played around with combinations, and I am sure that huge piece of ground is not doing its job for whatever reason. It's weird because my stock pump worked fine. It looks like the hard ground relay is going to be mandatory for me. I just need to figure out how to wire in one of those fancy relays.

I ended up going with a manual on/off switch for the pump, with a hard ground. My next issue is that the pump is only putting out 20-25psi (according to my generic gauge) which is apparently not enough to get the car started. (wow the sucker is loud) thoughts?

Is it a new pump? if so then you need to adjust your fuel pressure via regulator.

It's a new pump. I have stock regulator... I was going to try the crushing route
