would a 86 vg30 fit a 87
i have a vg30 engine from a 86 300zx that i just realized i have sitting around.i went around asking how much will it cost to fix the head gasket that in the 87 it was around $1000 and now that i found my old motor thats running perfect i asked a couple of people if it would fit my 87 a couple said yes and some said no,so iam sure yall know better and can help me better than what others say so what do yall think would it fit?!

yes it will. but swapping engines will probably be more expensive.SS #341

i believe all you would really need to change is the injectors and rail unless you have the 86 ecu. -

Wow, $1000 to replace a head gasket… yeah get manual you can find them for free online as well. I would go ahead and just replace all gaskets with a master kit and do a timing kit while your at it. Trust me it be better than just doing the head gasket only a day later to find another gasket leaking somewhere else or snap your timing belt down the road."You're going to need a mop after I drag your ass down the 1320"

i know its expensive,but like the guy was talking about he has to take the head to a machine shop or something like that,but i mean like the manual (Haynes) yall are talking about does it have anything that cover that? -

yes, and its surprisingly simple in the manual… they take the heads to a machine shop to refinish the area that the gasket touches, this ensures that its perfectly flat and unwarped. i found a local shop that would do it for $100 and i thought that was a bit high (but the only place i went)…SS #341

yes a 86 fits a 87, swap the you will need to swap lower manifold, flywheel and use the correct power steering pump
