    71c gear oil

i know its ideal to use GL-4 gear oil in our 5spd trans but i cant find it anywhere but online. however i was in oreilleys today and saw this stuff from MasterPro. it is GL-2, GL-3, GL-4 but its 140w. im thinking it might be too thick. what do you guys think? oreilly part #80040

Order Redline MT-90 or Motul Gear 300 online.

i ended up puting in 3.5 pints of 80-90 and 1 pint of the 140. it definitely sounds better. i know i need to replace some bearings but im in the process of rebuilding my other 71c. so until i finish it this mixture seems ok.

I actually just put in that Masterpro 140 GL-4. It's bad. The car has always had a grindy 2nd gear, but after putting this stuff in it wouldn't even shift into 2nd at all until the car was fully warm. I'd avoid it.

I ended up purchasing Redline MT-90 GL-4 from Amazon. $15 per quart and free shipping you can't beat the price anywhere.

i took the car out for a good hour or more of hard driving and it did better for me. my problem is with bearings not the actual gears (yet). either way im in the process of rebuilding my other 71c which will get tha good stuff.
