    NIStune M30 type 2 board

On the Nistune website it shows the M30 (VG30DE) using a type 2 board. Is this the Infinity M30 with the VG30E or a JDM model or something with a VG30DE?

What's so good about the US market M30 ECU?

    Where's the write up? Doesn't the M30 come with a VG30E and not a VG30DE?

yes, but its a newer ECU with a couple of good features.
if you read the M30 ecu sticky, there are some people who got it running and like it better.

I think I will be making a patch harness soon.

    I couldn't find the M30 ecu sticky.

Does the M30 ECU use the same CAS as the Z31?

    Yes.

The CAS unit itself is the same for IDK 100 cars. The wheel inside is what makes the signal what the certain ecu wants to see. IIRC it is the same wheel setup in the m30 as the z31. It is as easy as buying a JY m30 dizzy and comparing the 2 to be sure.

    Rick,

Searching "M30" or "ECU" wont get you results, because the search engine does not allow words of 3 letters or less. Please use google site search, or simply flip back a few pages of the engine management forum:

LOL @ buying JY M30 parts, more likely to find a Maserati biturbo in the JY than a M30 around here. You guys do realize how rare M30s are right?

Infiniti M30 = VG30E, "JDM" Model would be the Nissan Leopard available with many engines, from a VG20DE to a VG30DET.

D and WD21's with MPEFI may do the same thing for you that an m30 ecu would, and there are a ton of those.

it'd be good to find out if they're basically the same regarding the hardware capabilities.

another alternative to wiring in an M30 directly to the harness is to get a spare ecu that's broken from a z31, desolder the female ecu connectors, and resolder them onto a project board that you can make a patch harness with in a little box…

that's what I got, and will be doing soon. Then selling my 87 Nistune ECU and buying Type 2.
