Z32 MAF in Z31 Nistune issue
I have a customer that brought me an 87 300zx with many modifications, one being a Z32 MAF. I verified that he has it wired correctly and I am getting the proper voltage at pin 31 at the ECU which is the MAF signal pin. The car will start and idle but revs poorly. I am getting between .5 and 2 volts on the MAF pin at the ECU just revving it freely so I know that the MAF is working correctly. The problem is that the Nistune software states that I have a MAF DTC and the voltage for the MAF in the Nistune software stays at .8 volts all of the time. The customer thought that he might have read in the past that the Nistune requires the MAF to be wired to a different pin?? I could not find anything one this. Anyone have any ideas??
Thanks,
Larry

Did you select the z32 maf instead of z31 in nistune?http://z31performance.com/showthread…2-2-(-now-NA2T

Reference the NisTune documents here to verify proper setup: http://www.nistune.com/support-docum…on-general.php -

It is wired correctly. Verified MAF output at both the MAF and at the ECU. -

I'd also make sure the firing order is correct. I know it's easy to switch 2 of the spark plug wires. Is the maf being used as a draw through or blow through setup? -

The car runs and idles smoothly so the firing order has to be correct. The MAF is blow through. I am going to try to convince the customer to go standalone. -

I have been trying to get in contact with the owner of the vehicle about this.
You are saying that there is a physical change made to the ecu when using a Z32 MAF? It would have to be an input change to which pin is used I would imagine?? -

*** do the ecu mod for the voltage adjustment for the MAF PER NISTUNE'S instructions, as the earlier Ecu's require desoldering a connection bridge or two, the later ECU's require resistor clipping etc. (depending on if they used the stock ecu or not) taking the stock Z31 MAF (which are wired identical to the Z32's) voltage from 2-7 down to the Z32's require 0-5V reference.Damn dirty angels....these cars!
