Alternate turbo auto oil pump - ITM 057-1084 ?

Can someone who has one of those atsugi pumps pull out the gear and compare it to the ordinary pump? specifically the housings?

If the high-flow one uses wider gears, that width has to come from having a thinner front wall of the housing, but I'd like to see any machining differences…

The gearing is much wider…unfortunately they are both in my cars at the moment.

This ITM pump will be going back to Rockauto.
Comparison photos are to the Atsugi pump out of SS820, original motor.

    Inner Gear

    Outer Gear

Case of Atsugi has a relief for lubrication under the outer gear

Bypass machining differences. ITM is just milled out. Plungers are both fully seated.

    Depth of outer gear relief

    Height of inner gear standoff

    Depth of pump cavity.

Spring assembly seems same, springs offer similar resistance when compressed.

ITM defects, crossthreaded plug, where bypass relief was machined there is exposed voiding (air pockets) in the case.

It would appear that both pumps housings have the same pump cavity volume, but the ITM has smaller gear surfaces, thereby providing less flow.

Awesome pics, but if the base depth of the cavity is the same, and the atsugi has a wider gear set, that means there's actually less room behind the gear where the oil squishes out ?

That makes sense to me. My guess would be that the larger gears and the smaller secondary
cavity would mean that it's able to maintain a higher oil pressure at lower RPMs than the narrower gearset.

And according to Teck@EPR's post, the Atsugi pump measurements
matches what he had for a turbo-auto pump. Interesting....

I know he had claimed to bore them out or something, are there any images of this?

SS pump is not turbo auto, is it? IIRC turbo auto is wider.

It's a definitely a 5spd with the original motor, but the measurements from it match what Tech@EPR was calling a turbo-auto pump.

I've been saying this for ages. The new model introduction for the turbo Z31 states *ALL* turbo cars got high volume pumps. I've measured multiple turbo manual pumps to be the same sizes as the "turbo automatic" People then argue "well its probably been changed". Which is BS.

So what's the verdict? Are all genuine or atsugi later model turbo oil pumps the same Auto and 5 speed?

I opened up the Melling M110 pump and measured the gears. Both gears are 15mm thick so it seems that it is a turbo automatic oil pump. I have some pics I took with my Samsung S4 mini.

One thing to note is that the gears have fine metal dust on them. So I would recommend opening up and cleaning any new oil pump you get even if it's not going to be ported.

Awesome info Rick. I just ordered one.
However, it was 164.99 and after the promo code (treat25) it was only 123.74+ free shipping.

At that price, i may have to order another one for the next build.

You can upload your photos from a phone if you're using the desktop version of the site on Android/chrome, iirc.

edit: just uploaded this from my android phone, using the desktop version of the site.
