All this came about because you asked for a file… "I'd like to see if my machine shop could DO a set for me"
By the time you are done testing them and fixing all the minor corrections that always are needed you will see why I "went off on you". Let us know how they work out for you and if you saved any money.

I have good relation with the machine shop. I design product and often have the chance to deal with them.

Those CNC parts won't cost me a thing.

I guess we only have a different view of the situation.

It's a simple design and does not require a prototype.
The first one will be the good one. Take your caliper, and valid the cad if you want.

Spacer will be 1.25'' thick.

I'll also have 8 extra spacer as below done on the plasma cutter. These will be .125''

This will leave me 8 possible setting, to adjust to the height if needed.

Are those .125" shims meant to fit to the bottom of the main spacer?

If so, you need to be careful about that. The bore that mates to the steering knuckle is a vital for load transference. With smaller spacers stacked underneath, you're compromising this design, and are creating shear points.

Do YOU understand how this component works?

BSRJRONMAN, I agree one solid part would be better.

But this kind of part can't be the same for everyone.

Each different drop height requires a different Spacer adjustment.

Ride Height of everyone running coilover on their Z31 is different.

Only part of the community that could get a One size fit all is the 'To the floor' crew…! :twisted:

I have no clue of what will be needed on my car, this is why I'm looking for some allowance.



Inside diameter will be .003'' bigger than the external diameter of the knuckle.

The 1/8 height will be enough to offer proper support and guidance.

As long as the bottom and top part are guided in the right spot, the compression of the remaining spacer is the key.

There is a reason for the huge stock M12 x 1.25'' bolt, all t load from the column end up on them.

1st I took the original V1 bump steer spacer drawing

Corrected the missing dimensions then made a CAD file. **I know the specific drop these are designed for. My car exceeds those, but my FLAs are horizontal and still allow for more than enough movement in the ball joint to benefit/be safe.

Then I tossed it in FEA to put some loads on it. Interesting enough there was some weak spots that could be prone to fatigue failure. I added more material to those areas, changed some radii to improve to my liking. Then I busted out the machinist handbook and spec'd the clearance holes. Then I measured a handful of spindles and then adjusted the top portion so it was a slight press fit.

Then I ordered some new Moog ball joints. Measured my old ball joints and saw I was able to leave more material in the inner radii.

Lastly I wanted a set made..... and what is the best way to get sets at a decent price? Group buy.... Enter Kyle as my experience in getting the coilover adapters made was pleasant.

I have had plenty of other custom parts machined by Kyle.... mutual respect for each others talents and we both benefit respectively.

Fast forward now to G. Buy #2 and this pissing match. It was not as simple as slapping down some dimensions.... just saying.

But is making a set myself, here in Montreal, for me,for fun, is a bad thing?

I don't plan any production, the spindle in my hand is the spindle needed. I got the right mesure.

Why argue ? Why not say good luck ?

I would LOVE to see my spacer bent, I guess this would be the result of a CRAZY amount of strenght.

A lot of component are overbuilt to begin with, and those spacers are part of the lot.

I think it was just sore bums from blatantly asking for a file that is being marketed. No intentions from reproduction still puts a risk that an uncontrolled copy is out of the hands of the proprietor.
