    Weird Starting Problem (84 Turbo)

    Issue:

The car runs and idles fine, but I went into the gym (an hour) and came back out to drive to work and it just wouldn't start, it acted like it was getting no fuel, just would turn, sorta catch, sputter, and die. Later that day I came back after work, sputtered a little, kept cranking, and it fired up. Ran rough for a bit, but drove it home 15 miles with no issues whatsoever, no sputtering, it ran strong. The previous owner had warned me of this issue and said it's very sporadic, and it is.

New parts: fuel pump, injectors, fuel filter, 93 octane gas, and ECU.

Has anyone dealt with this before? I'm at a loss, when the car starts she'll run forever and really well. It's starting that has a problem. It's only happened once so far but I had to walk to work and need this fixed, as it will be my daily driver.

    Thanks,
    DK

I doubt you can get the kit anymore or if you do have it, it may be on the fritz.
My 84T has the kit and still has the occasional hot start issue.

Read this thread too, it may be of some help:

I found the kit, for the dirt cheap price of $175 lol is it even worth it, and what do I do to prevent myself from waiting at a gas station for an hour if this does occur? Are their any tricks? I have to road trip this thing back home 600 miles lol

Which part number did you order? I've seen people recommend the opposite of what the manual says.

I have an 84 manual turbo, which the manual says 22626 01P01.

84 turbo with an automatic transmission is 22626 02P01. I don't want to blow $150 on the wrong part if it matters.

I had similar issues on mine.

It went away when I installed a set of Efans and programmed the controller to run them for a full minute after the engine is shut off.

Distributor (CAS) maybe. $100 on rockautp or so. Did you check your wires, ignition coil, can you hear the fuel pump go in the back.

I don't think its fuel related BC it runs. But it just might be. I'd checkthe dizzy, wires, coil, prw2.

I recommend always buying new dizzys. Yields Z31Performance, and a lot of other stuff. From experience.
