i ordered a clutch kit for a 89 pathfinder (the disc is 9 7/8 inches compared to 9.5 inches for the z31), hydraulics for the clutch, cause that is what my flywheel came off of, as well as the bell housing,
i also ordered the mazworx solid shifter bracket,
gotta go pick up the clutch pedal assembly from a buddy, and then its just doing it and measuring for a driveshaft.
i dont know if the flywheel size is different but if it is i will have to use my old pathfinder starter as well.

one thing i dont have and not sure on is the sleeve for the throw out bearing. i used the pathfinder one on the pathfinder with the z32 clutch to get more throw and help with the engaging sooner. prolly need another pathfinder sleeve,,, but if i can use the other one it might be okay? but i dont know for sure.
last thing ill need is the z32 short shifter and that should be it.
and a clutch dampner unless it can be bypassed…

    questions
    1. will my stock tranny crossmember and mount work with the z32 tranny?

    2. does any one provide a basic gasket, seal, snap ring set for the R30a?

    3. do i need a lift to get the tranny out of the car?

you need to measure the height of the tranny, and then measure the full height of your frame rails. if the tranny is taller than the frame rail, you don't have enough.

I have jackstands that are about 28 inches in height, so I've done the tranny swap on the ground 4 times now.

i have started to take out the old auto tranny. the project has begun! took a quick measurement from original output shaft to dif flange which was about 31 inches.
the tranny is only hanging by the dipstick tube and some wires. should have it out and the new one in by tomoro.

tranny is in. picking up the drive shaft tomoro.
    z32 tranny swap. check
    3.3 swap. check
haha. ive only had the car for 6 weeks!
whats left to do on the tranny swap progress:
check ball, check spring, and check plugs installed.
    rear main seal.
    re-adjust timing.
get electrical conections and speedo connected/working.
    install ds and exhaust
    shifter bushing
    shifter boot.

    couple of questions.
what do i do with the shift actuator that locks the auto shifter into park etc.? cause there is no plug to unplug it as far as i can see? just cut it off?
the other question is another electrical switch that was also inside of the auto shifter, which i believe was pressed down when the shifter was all the way in park. what should i do with it? tape it down? leave it? cut it off?
    thanks.

my driveshaft solution was unique yet fairly simple.
i stole my pathfinders rear drive shaft, found a yoke that bolts to the r200 differential flange and has 1310 ujoints to match the pathfinders, trim the collar on the slip yoke to fit in the cars transmission slip yoke cup, shorten it to length, and voila.
stronger than stock one piece ds with bigger stronger ujoints done for less than 100 bucks. cant beat that.

i had to make a custom tranny crossmember which turned out really good i think and incorporates the stock z32 tranny mount.
i will be replacing my engine mounts and tranny mounts soon all with high density polyurethane soon as well.

VERY NICE, So all I have to do to to do that to mine aside from the drive shaft and the measurements. Is get a z32 TT Transmission, and swap it on to my Bell Housing and I'll be alset? I cant use my Factory flywheel or starter can I or do I have to get one from a Maxima, and the Starter from an M30? I read through this Forum and got a little confused along the way. Care to straight it out for me just EXACTLY I need to do what you did. Thanks man.

Can we get this thread cleaned up please? There's very little info on driveshaft lengths and it seems we must go over the bellhousing swap part every week.

any R30a bellhousing wth the starter location that bolts to the block, and matching slave cylinder with banjo bolt hose.
any matching R30a clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, sleeve.
    z32 5 speed.
mazworx shifter bracket, (or fab your own).
custom driveshaft. (be creative) I shortened a pathfinder ds with a custom yoke.
build a custom crossmember. took me all of 10 mins and uses the stock z32 tranny mount.
clutch pedal and clutch master cylinder.

it is a very basic bolt in upgrade once you figure out the parts you can use. if anyone has any specific questions that is ACTUALLY doing the swap and doesnt just want to know cause they are curious feel free to pm me.

I used the tranny crossmember from the 71c and it bolted up with only minor slotting for the 4 bolt holes. I also got my drive shaft in today. I ordered it for www.driveshaftspecialist.com. They needed a measurement from the transmission case where the output seal seats in to the pinon flange on the diff. that came out to be 35" on the dot. this is for an 86na 2+0. Hope this helps

Nice too see that this thread is alive after about 5years and still motivates people!

My tranny still holds up without problems. Although it's now attached to a z33 tt-vq35de in my z.. Might do a writeup about this if you guys are interested?
