the other guys made some sort of doohicky that fixes the problem, me I just left it the way it is, and if it binds it binds. I will probably find a spare set of uprights and cut the mount off and re-weld them later!1uz Swapped, lowered, flaked out '86 z31

The Q45 rear subframe is too wide, it's actually wider then a tt Z32 subframe.
Spooledup300z wrote: So you use a Q45 rear subframe? I thought z32/Q45 was to wide for the Z31.
This is basically what Iâm looking to do..
Was going to use the Q45 knuckles, Z32 struts, and see if the Q45 rucas are usable as they are half moon.

s13 subframe
q45 diff
1 q45 axle
1 z32tt axle or skyline axle
s13 diff cover
j30 half moon rucas
z32 or q45 uprights
and a few other tad bits here and thereKevin

Check Zilva when you choose to weld it, takes a serious Tig machine over 250 amps to weld that thick aluminum. You may be better off modding the shock tower87T, My build thread http://z31performance.com/forum/z31-…lee-s-87t-rb26 -

You could weld it with a hobbyist machine, like a Miller 165/185. Or the Lincoln that Satan uses, it just means more, smaller passes instead of one large pass. Personally I feel more comfortable with bulding up multiple passes than one big hot pass…you want your weld to penetrate both work pcs evenly. If you were to cut your weld in half the penetration area should look like a circle for T joints, more spade like for butt joints.

I actually think I found something the would really help with the angel of the mount as they replace the bushing with spherical ball joints! I'm gonna give them a try and see if they would help angle them better!

It's so much easier to just swap the bearing/hub, rear E-brake assembly into the rear 240 steel knuckle. Also is you ever choose to use the stance coil over kit for the z31 it uses the S Rear subframe lower mounting.87T, My build thread http://z31performance.com/forum/z31-…lee-s-87t-rb26 -

It wouldn't help you, 240 guys have a tried that route, only way to solve this issue as I stated before. Is to either modify the upper shock mount, or cut and re-weld the rear lower mount. The advantage of running the z32 rear knuckle is weight saving of like 5lbs.

I tried to contact stance about the uprights and never heard back from them, so maybe they do sale them. Make sure whoever you know, is a good aluminum welder, this will require preheating and some deep root welds IMO. It has to take alot of abuse87T, My build thread http://z31performance.com/forum/z31-…lee-s-87t-rb26 -

Not really all that hard to make the z32 uprights to work, and yes…1sickz did have a issue with the bushings starting to tear on him…
